1959 Fender Stratocaster Slab Board/ Sunburst
This is an exceptionally clean and original 1959, first year Slab Rosewood Board Fender Stratocaster. Beautiful sunburst with rare, unbroken original mint green pick guard. Neck is fantastic feeling and the original, small frets have remarkably little noticeable play wear. (Mostly in the first three frets). It has two tuners changed (originals included in original, brown case). It appears the nut has been changed at some point and there is a small area next to the tremolo block where the back cavity was widened slightly, likely to make better clearance for the tremolo block. This is not visible with the back cover on of course.
The Body is dated 12/59 in the trem cavity, the neck bears no date (as is typical of most 1959 year Fender electrics) and the potentiometer codes are 5948: 48th week of 59 across all three original pots. Solder joints appear completely untouched and the electronics all appear to be 100% stock. Pickups measure: 6.47 Ohms in the bridge position, 5.53 in the middle and 6.27 in the neck position. They sound absolutely incredible.
This amazing instrument is an inspiration to play and comes with its original brown, orange-lined case.
